Homer B Clipner

June 30, 1925 — April 8, 2019

Homer B. Clipner, 93, of Cambridge passed away Monday (April 8, 2019) at SEORMC.

He was born June 30, 1925 in Guernsey County and was the son of the late James and Margaret (Hill) Clipner.

Mr. Clipner retired from the former Bruney-Lamarca (Ken Bender Motors) after several years of service.  He was Christian by faith, a life member of VFW #2901 and the American Legion. Homer enjoyed reading traveling and being around people.  He served our country as an Army veteran of WWII, where he received a Purple Heart, two Bronze star medals. He was a POW being captured in the Battle of the Bulge.

In addition to his parents Homer was preceded in death by his wife Mary L. (Triplett) Clipner; seven brothers, Ross, Milford, Clark, Ellis, Harold, Willard and Wynn Clipner; two sisters, Josephine Boring and Rena Lawry.

He is survived by four daughters, Connie S. Clipner, Barbara J. (Bruce) Miller, Cheryl J. (Chris) Kuhn, and Nancy J. (Mel) Groh, all of Cambridge; one sister Janet (Dale) Rhinehart of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Angela Marshall, Michael Groh, Samantha Agostino, and Glenn Groh; five great grandchildren, George Brooks Marshall, Pailey Rose, Lydia Groh, Rocco Agostino, Sophie Groh; and two great great grandchildren, Jocelyn Marshall, and Lindsay Marshall.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge where services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Mark Slay officiating.  Burial will follow at Guernsey Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
