Howard W. Pethtel, 90, of Cambridge passed away Thursday March 8, 2007 at Red Carpet Health Care Center. He was born June 16,1916 in Antrim, son of the late William, O. and Cynthia D. (Wendell) Pethtel. Mr. Pethtel retired from Randall Plastics, following 2o years of service, and was a former employee of Cambridge Panelyte. He owned and operated a milk route, having delivered milk to Dairy Deel from farmers. He also worked at Heller Tool Co. in Newcomerstown. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cambridge, and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen C. (Decker) Pethtel, on February 11, 1986, whom he married Nov. 14, 1934; his second wife, Ruth (Potts) Saintenoy Pethtel, on January 3, 2002, whom he married August 23, 1986; a brother, Robert Pethtel; and a sister, Eloise J. CLay. He leaves four sons, James H. (Betty) Pethtel, Cambridge, Jerry A. (Patricia) Pethtel of New Concord, Timothy R. (Lueann) Pethtel and William (Judy) Pethtel, all of Cambridge; a daughter, Mary Jane Kerr of Cambridge; 14 grandchildren, Christine Shade, Roger Kerr, Dawna Morton, Carl Allen and Eric G. Pethtel, all of Cambridge, Cindy Thiele of Hendersonville, TN., Amy All of Mt. Vernon, Christine Allen of Newcomerstown, Billy Pethtel of Reynoldsville, Michael Pethtel of Virginia, Matthew R. Pethtel of Delaware, Amy Grimmett of Crooksville, James Michael Pethtel of Texas, and Cody Pethtel of New Concord; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Decker of Akron and Ferne Scott of Freeport; 23 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife's family, her son, William (Karen) Saintenoy, of Senecaville; daughter, Barbara (Gary) Rogers of Senecaville; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday @ Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge where services will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor John Neff officiating. Burial will be in the Northwood Cemetery.
