Iris Y. Payton

Iris Y. Payton, 63, of Cambridge, died Thursday (November 26, 2020) at Southeastern Med.

She was born April 23, 1957 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Ira Payton and Marie (Harden) Payton.

Iris retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where she had been a therapeutic program worker.

She enjoyed playing bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Strong; a brother, Robert Payton; and three sisters, Juanita Flores, Sylvania Wolverton, and Gail Solebah.

She is survived by four daughters, Shalanda Perkins of Pickerington, Mea (Derrick) Williams of Katy TX, Akneca (Brian) Brumfield of Pensacola FL, and LaToya Burnett of Cambridge; two brothers, Phillip Kidwell of Cambridge and George Payton of Cambridge; five sisters, Helen Harden of Cambridge, Mary (John) Smith of Cambridge, Jacqueline (Randy) Powers of Byesville, Starlet Payton of Byesville, and Myrtle Okai of Wooster MA; and nine grandchildren, Kiana Perkins, DaVaughnte Best, Roman Jeffrey, Tyjae Williams, Kennah Brumfield, Davion Jeffrey, Jaden Williams, Preveil Perkins, and Brynlie Brumfield.

No calling hours will be observed.  No services will be held at this time.
