J Richard Preston

J Richard "Dick" Preston, 81, of Cambridge passed away Friday, July 10, 2026.

Richard was born April 17, 1945, in Cambridge, a son to the late Luella M. and Richard F Preston.

He was a graduate of Cambridge High School with the class of 1963, received his degree from Miami University in 1967, and proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1969.

Richard had various careers throughout his lifetime. He was a teacher at Maysville High School, a salesman at Food Distributors in Cambridge and retired from Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing East in Cambridge in 2008.

He was a lifelong member of the Cambridge Elks #448, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #386, and The American Legion Cambridge Post No 84.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Andrea "Ann" N. (Williamson) Preston, whom he married October 17, 1970, and who passed January 24, 2020.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brandee and Tom Sherfy of Zanesville.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
