Jack Duane Bennett

Jack Duane Bennett, 77, of Cambridge, died Saturday (October 23, 2021) at Southeastern Med, Cambridge.

He was born April 23, 1944 in Cambridge, son of the late Charles R. Bennett and Margaret (Barnes) Bennett.

A 1962 graduate of Cambridge High School, Mr. Bennett retired from the Cambridge Fire Department in 1992 where he had served as the assistant fire chief.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and collecting model trains.  He enjoyed nature, wildlife, and loved animals.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jolene Bennett; and a brother, Charles Robert Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Merva) Bennett, whom he married November 19, 1965; two sons, John D. Bennett of Cambridge and James D. (Andrea) Bennett of Cambridge; two brothers, James E. (Melanie) Bennett of Tennessee and Roger (Linda) Bennett of Florida; a sister, Joan (Tom) Leonard of Virginia; four grandchildren, Roxxann (Stuart) Scott of Newark, Alexzandria Bennett of Cambridge, Christopher Bennett of Cambridge, and Anna Bennett of Cambridge; a great-grandchild, Mia Lane of Newark; a special brother-in-law, Joe (Linda) Merva of California; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Private services will be held for the family.  Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
