Jack Farley, 86, of Cambridge, died Monday (January 16, 2017) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born September 20, 1930 in Fullerton KY, son of the late Cecil J. Farley and Dana Irene (Bryson) Farley. Mr. Farley graduated from Asbury University and later earned his Master's degree from the University of Kentucky. He worked for thirty years as a teacher at Rolling Hills Local School District. Retiring in 1990, his career at Meadowbrook served to teach many classes the ins and outs of government. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Byesville. He was also a member of Right to Life and the Guernsey County Republicans Club. He was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. Mr. Farley was a US Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dan A. Kimsey. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Scanlon) Farley, whom he married July 21, 1967; a son, Dr. Jared A. Farley of Roswell NM; a daughter, Amy (& Jeff) Mayne of Lancaster; a sister, Freda Kimsey of Parkersburg WV; two grandchildren, Trent Mayne and Jessie Mayne; a step-granddaughter, Kortney Mayne of Fairborn; and three nieces, along with their families. Visitation will be held Friday (January 20, 2017) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Saturday (January 21, 2017) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joe Summers and Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Countryview Assisted Living Center, 62825 County Home Road, Lore City OH 43755; or 2) any charity of the donor's choice.
