Jack L. Mullins

Jack L. Mullins, 79, of Norwich, died Tuesday (July 5, 2011). He was born December 21, 1931 in Cambridge, son of the late Albert Lawrence Mullins and Avanell Cornilia (Talbert) Mullins. Mr. Mullins worked as a laborer at the Zanesville Airport, and retired as a machinist at Rexnor-Dana-Bosch and also at R.V.A. He was a member of EAA. He was also a member of several traditional music groups. He was a volunteer for Hospice of Guernsey Inc. Mr. Mullins was a member of the Norval Park Church of Christ, Zanesville. He also served as a driver and maintenance person for the church bus ministry. Mr. Mullins was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War as a seaman and RMSM radioman. He is survived by his wife, Sara (Hickerson) Mullins of the home; a sister, Judy (& Joe) Mahley of Cambridge; a brother-in-law, Gary (& Linda) Hickerson of Jacksonville AR; a sister-in-law, Elaine Hickerson of Newark; four nephews, Scott (& Michelle) Roberts of Cambridge, Marty Roberts of Cambridge, Tony (& Shelly) Roberts of Byesville, and Mike (& Shannon) Roberts of Cambridge; a niece, Adeana (& Joe) Mahley of Cambridge; and an aunt, Betty Keith. Jack is remembered as a very devoted son, brother, uncle, and husband. Family and friends may call on Saturday (July 9, 2011) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Garrett and Evang. Keith Kress officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions in Jack's name be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Partners in Progress, PO Box 13989, Maumelle AR 72113; 2) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; or 3) Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch Street, Zanesville OH 43701.
