Jacquelyn L. Powell, 65, of New Concord, died at her home Tuesday (May 16, 2017). She was born October 23, 1951 in Cambridge, daughter of the late John Mekkelsen and Betty Jane (Smock) Mekkelsen. Mrs. Powell retired from Southeastern Med, where she had worked for many years as an LPN. She attended Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Powell. She is survived by five sons, Jack (& Lisa) McClelland of Fredericksburg, Paul (& Amanda) McClelland of New Concord, Randall (& Kristy) Powell of Lewis Center, Matthew (& Robin) Powell of Glenford, and Marcus Powell of Meadville PA; a brother, Martin (& Martha) Mekkelsen of Apex NC; a sister, Holly (& William) Thompson of Colchester IL; ten grandchildren, Ryan Powell, Sarah Powell, Maren McClelland, Tes McClelland, Tsige McClelland, Nate McClelland, Evan Powell, Ella McClelland, Isaac McClelland, and Ali McClelland; a brother-in-law, Dick Powell of Ravenna; a sister-in-law, Diane Rood of Salem; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday (May 19, 2017) from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Jack McClelland officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church, PO Box 259, Fredericksburg OH 44627.
