James David Burns, 90, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (September 8, 2021) at Southeastern Med.
He was born May 18, 1931 in Radcliff, son of the late George W. Burns and Alma (Camp) Burns.
Mr. Burns was the owner of Burns Insurance for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, BPOE Elks Club, and was a Scottish Rite Mason.
Mr. Burns was a US Army veteran, having served from 1954 to 1956.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Cambridge.
He enjoyed playing basketball until the age of seventy and playing golf. He cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowel V. Burns and Virgil Burns; three sisters, Francis Bowen, Mary Lupo-Breech, and Martha V. Robbins; an infant daughter; a son-in-law, Robert Baker; and a granddaughter, Karly Eldredge.
He is survived by his wife, Anne (White) Burns, whom he married on July 31, 1982; three sons, James Michael Burns (Kim Luckey) of Florida, Timothy D. (Susan) Burns of Mexico, and Benjamin (Angela) Burns of Medina; a daughter, Sandra Baker of Florida; two stepsons, John Eldredge of Cambridge and Scott (Tina) Eldredge of Cambridge; two stepdaughters, Kelly (Jeffrey) Murrey of Gibsonia PA and Karen (Michael) Yanico of Cambridge; twenty-four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
No calling hours will be observed.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date.
