James W. Heddleson

James W. Heddleson, 85, of Cambridge, died Thursday (January 12, 2017) at the Beckett House at New Concord.

He was born November 8, 1931 in Cambridge, son of the late John B. Heddleson and Mary Ellen (Ogle) Heddleson.

Mr. Heddleson had worked as a driver supervisor for Roadway Express and later retired from the City of Cambridge, where he had been a sewer plant operator for many years.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Cambridge and a 1949 graduate of New Concord High School.

Mr. Heddleson was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge. In addition to being an avid deer hunter, his other hobbies included fishing, gardening, and watching golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Heddleson; and a sister, Mary Kohler.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dixie (Riley) Heddleson, whom he married February 23, 1957; two sons, Jay E. (& Jean) Heddleson of Cambridge and Glenn Edwin Heddleson of Cambridge; a brother, Frank (& Loretta) Heddleson of Cambridge; a sister, Ruth Coleman of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Heidi (& Ryan) Bowling of Hilliard and Kadi (& Tyler) Love of Cambridge; and four great-grandchildren, Zea, Cooper, Cassius, and Arya.

No calling hours will be observed.

Private funeral services were held for the family with burial at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Pastor Sturman Moore officiated the service and military graveside honors were conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
