James William Hollins, 65, of Cambridge, died Monday (Dec. 10, 2007) at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1942, in Cambridge, son of the late Nathan Hollins and Helen (Payton) Hollins. Mr. Hollins was a 45 year employee of Wells Farms. He was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family, especially the loves of his life, his three grandsons, Cody, Josh and Braedyn. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Michael, Richard, William and Ted; a niece, Myah Conner; and nephews, John Hollins Jr. and Kyle Norman. He leaves his companion and caregiver of 18 years, Connie Laird; stepdaughter, Jaime Baker, Cambridge; stepson, Scott Laird, Old Washington; three daughters, Velma (Sam) Dotson, Kimbolton, Tammy Jirles, North Carolina, and Elaine Smith, Caldwell; sister, Helen Russell, Cambridge; five brothers, Nathan Hollins, Sacramento, Calif., Thomas (Bonnie) Hollins, Joseph (Valerie) Hollins, John (Kelly) Hollins, Harold (Brenda) Hollins, all of Cambridge; three sisters-in-law, Karen (Kermit) Trott, Linda Hollins and Susan Hollins, all of Cambridge; brother-in-law, Thomas (Nancy) Laird, Cambridge; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Randolph White officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery. Military honors will be observed.
