James S. Mcdonald

July 20, 1939 — November 20, 2020

James S. 'Jim", 'Mac' McDonald, 81, of Cambridge died Friday (November 20, 2020) at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.

He was born July 20, 1939, son of the late D.E. 'Mack' and Margaret E. (Cunningham) McDonald.

Jim retired from the US Navy as a Petty Officer, 2nd Class, after 17 years, having served during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid bowler and sports fan, and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, who he considered to be the light of his life.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Cambridge High School, and was a member of the Cambridge VFW post 2901, and the Cambridge Eagles #386.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Lillie (Riley) McDonald, of the home, whom he married in 1978; a son Denny (& Diana) Robertson of Cambridge; a brother, Duane E. McDonald of Columbus; a sister, Marilyn J. (& Chris) McCormick of Cambridge; two grandsons, Danny and Jack Robertson of Cambridge; five great-grandchildren, Cammy, Danny Jr., Dalton, Lilly, and Jack Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, on Monday (November 30, 2020) at 1 p.m.  Military Honors will be provided by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
