James E. Mcmasters

James E. McMasters, 68, of Cambridge, died Saturday (April 21, 2012) at his home after a five-year battle with bone and lung cancer. He was born July 18, 1943 in Uhrichsville, son of the late John McMasters and Annie (Workman) McMasters. Mr. McMasters was a local supervisor for GTE, having retired in 1998. He was a 1961 graduate of Gnadenhutten High School. Mr. McMasters was a member of the VFW Post 2901 and the Fraternal Order of the Moose 631. He was a former member of Eagles Aerie 386. He enjoyed golfing and working at the Salt Fork Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. McMasters was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Trubisky) McMasters of the home, whom he married December 23, 1989; a son, Jim (& Deb) McMasters Jr. of Louisville KY; a daughter, Gina (& Chuck) Bohannon of Louisville KY; a step-son, Jeff Lucas of Blacklick; a step-daughter, Michelle Lucas of Blacklick; a brother, Mike (& Bonna) McMasters of Gilmore; two sisters, Lyda Westhafer of Newcomerstown and Dolly Tracy of Kimbolton; eight grandchildren, Tyler Bohannon, Abigail Bohannon, Kayla Bohannon, Jared McMasters, Brandon Foster, Brooke Amrine, Abby Amrine, and Madison Amrine; and several nieces & nephews. In keeping with the wishes of Mr. McMasters, no calling hours will be observed and a cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held Friday (April 27, 2012) at 11 a.m. at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Guernsey County Cancer Society, 927 E Wheeling Avenue, Suite 205, Cambridge OH 43725.
