James R. Milligan

James R. Milligan, 72, of Cambridge, died Friday (June 27, 2008) at his home. Mr. Milligan and his wife had lived in several different states for nineteen years. He was born in Valley Grove WV, son of the late Beryl Francis Milligan and Vina Frances (Madison) Milligan. He married Sylvia Remley on July 4, 1969. Mr. Milligan was a handyman and a "jack-of-all" trades. He was a member of the Byesville American Legion # 116, Cambridge VFW Post # 2901 and Guernsey County Veterans Council. He was a social member of Byesville VFW Post # 3760. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and shooting pool. Mr. Milligan was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He leaves his wife of thirty-nine years, Sylvia (Remley) Milligan of the home; several nieces & nephews, including Paul (& Elisa) Bates Jr. of Cambridge and Paula Johnson & Family of Cambridge; several great-nieces & great-nephews, including Danielle Ogle, who is currently serving with the U.S. Air Force in the state of Washington; three sisters-in-law, Carol (& Bob) Kelly of AZ, Ruth Walls of Cambridge and Helen Headley of Cambridge; a very dear friend, Mary Fair "Sis" Thompson of Cambridge and her mother, Mary Wharton, who Jim called "Mom #2" - he loved all their family; and a special buddy of forty-four years, Eddie Green of Columbus. Family and friends may call on Monday (June 30, 2008) from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, at a later date. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council at a later date.
