James A. Potts

February 2, 1914 — January 13, 2008

James A. Potts, 93, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday (January 13, 2008) at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born on February 2, 1914 in Senecaville, son of the late Joseph Potts and Cora (Parry) Potts. Mr. Potts was self-employed and also a painter for Harry Schimmel and Cal Davis Construction for many years. He was president of the Guernsey County Painters Local Union. Mr. Potts was a 1932 graduate of Brown High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Thompson, Bea Gates, Florence Stage and June Hart; and a brother, Ross Potts. He leaves his wife, Laura (Boyd) Potts of the home, whom he married on November 2, 1935; a son, David L. (& Susann) Potts of Columbus; two daughters, J. Carlene Davidson of Cambridge and Marna (& Richard) Zitzmann of Edmunds WA; a brother, Russell Potts of Wooster; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Private services were held for the family at the Northwood Mausoleum on Tuesday (January 15, 2008) at 1 p.m. The services were officiated by Rev. Mark Smith. Burial followed at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
