James Gregory Staten

James Gregory Staten, 47, of Little River SC, passed away March 6, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Columbus OH, son of James Staten and Theda (Palmer) Staten of Grove City OH. Jim graduated from Grove City High School and The Ohio State University. After graduation, he was employed by Avemco Aviation Insurance Company of Columbus OH, Raleigh NC and New Market MD. At the time of his death, he was employed by Sky High Aircraft LLC as a pilot. Jim loved to fly! He obtained his pilot's license at sixteen years of age and took his solo flight prior to receiving his driver's license. He was passionate about playing the piano and guitar, loved boating & animals. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan. Jim will be sadly missed by his parents; sisters, Lori (Mike) Mason and Julie (Brian) Oyster; nieces, Tarah and Kathryn; nephews, Tyler and Nicholas; his former wife, Nancy Staten; and many other relatives, friends and his cat, Chloe. Family and friends may call on Saturday (April 10, 2010) from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, 139 S 9th St, Cambridge OH, where a memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
