Janet Louise Smith

Janet Louise Smith, 58, of Valley Grove WV, died Friday (December 29, 2006) at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling. She was born September 20, 1948 in Cambridge, daughter of Edward Ruby and Mary (Medley) Ruby. Mrs. Smith was a former seventh grade math teacher with the Cambridge City School District. She was a 1966 graduate of Cambridge High School and a 1969 graduate of Muskingum College, where she earned a degree in Education. Mrs. Smith earned the very first McFarland Scholarship. She collected Snoopy and Peanuts memorabilia. She enjoyed fishing and reading mystery books. She leaves her husband, Keith Douglass Smith of the home, whom she married August 21, 1971; her parents, Edward Ruby and Mary (Medley) Ruby of Cambridge; a sister, Joyce (& Ralph) Clark of Hurricane WV; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Wednesday (January 3, 2007) at 1 p.m. with Evang. Myron Guiler officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
