Jasper C. Starr Jr.

Jasper C. Starr Jr., 87, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (January 30, 2013) at his home. He was born May 3, 1925 in Cambridge, son of the late Jasper C. Starr and Anna O. (Boniphant) Starr. Mr. Starr retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where he had been a supervisor of the housekeeping department. He also was an owner & operator for Standard Oil for over twenty years. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 386 and Modern Woodmen of America. He loved woodworking. He also was a ham radio operator. Mr. Starr was a member of the East Cambridge Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Adkins; three brothers, Paul, Charles, and Ralph Starr; and a granddaughter, Cassandra Carroll. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Bell) Starr, whom he married January 16, 1944; two daughters, Nancy Jo (& Tom) Laird and Leanna Joy (& Les) McCollum; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Private graveside services were held for the family on Saturday (February 2, 2013) at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Evang. Mike Vierheller officiated the ceremony.
