Jeannine F. Hickman, 73, of Cambridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday (March 29, 2017). She was born February 12, 1944 in East St. Louis IL, daughter of the late James F. South and Jeanne Wahl Walter. Mrs. Hickman was employed by the Mid-East Ohio Vocational School District as an educational aide at the Cambridge Adult Basic Education Center for many years. She was Protestant by faith and attended Christ United Methodist Church when she was able to. Mrs. Hickman's many hobbies included reading, writing, genealogy, and designing and making soft sculptured artist dolls and jewelry. She was a Girl Scout leader for ten years, past member and president of the Cambridge Writer's Workshop, and was listed in the Who's Who in U.S. Editors, Writers, and Poets. One of her greatest joys was to spend time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard South and James South; a sister, Thelma South; and a grandson, Dustin Hickman. She is survived by her husband, George E. Hickman, whom she married June 8, 1968; four sons, Steven Robert Hickman of Colorado, Kevin L. (& Carrie) Hickman of Illinois, Dwayne A. (& Ed) Hickman of Cambridge, and Scott (& Jenny) Hickman of Cambridge; a daughter, Lisa S. (& Dale) Lyons of Cambridge; three step-daughters, Cindy L. McKendry of New Concord, Lucy Fritter of Philo, and Sharon A. Sedor of Senecaville; a brother, Vincent South of Missouri; a sister, Susan (& Kurt) Van Alsburg of Sheffield Lake; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday (April 1, 2017) from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
