Jeffrey J. Anker, 54, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (December 30, 2009) at his home. He was born December 18, 1955 in Cambridge, son of Jeannine (King) Anker and the late James R. Anker. Mr. Anker retired after twenty-five years of service from the Cambridge City Police Department, where he was a police officer. He was a life member of the Jerry Dragosin FOP Lodge # 10. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. Mr. Anker was also a member and former treasurer of the Just Plane Nuts model airplane club of Cambridge. He held a private aviation pilot's license. He graduated from Cambridge High School and the Mideast Career and Technology Center in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Beatty) Anker; his mother, Jeannine (King) Anker of Cambridge; two sons, Jeremy J. Anker (& Alicia Dittmar) of Zanesville and Shawn Anker (& Lyndsey Harbin) of Columbus; a daughter, Shannon (& Shawn) Weaver of Cambridge; a brother, Jay (& Teresa) Anker of Cambridge; a sister, Karen (& Randy) Winnett of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Dalton Anker, Adrienne Weaver and Liam Weaver; his close friends, Jeff Hayes, Bob Edwards and Kenny Grubbs and many other special friends. Family and friends may call on Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday (January 5, 2010) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
