Jerome Anthony Smith

Jerome "Jerry" Anthony Smith, 69, of Dexter, New Mexico, formerly of Freeport passed away Monday May 14, 2007 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Toledo. He was born January 8, 1938 in Cleveland, son of the late John and Selma (Henry) Smith. Mr. Smith retired from Halliburton in 1992. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a 1956 graduate of North Royalton High School. Mr. Smith was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending his retirement years as a charter boat captain on the "Fishin' Fever" on Lake Erie. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Hinson) Smith whom he married March 12, 1973; 3 sons, Shawn (Peggy) Longan of Denver, CO., John (Kathy) Smith of Akron, and Karl (Lisa) Longan of Cambridge; 2 daughters, Connie (Dean) Miller of Cambridge, JeriAnn (Ron) House of Roswell, New Mexico; 1 sister, Patricia (David) Maichrye of Parma; and 6 grandchildren, Jeff, Ryan, Donavan, Jordan, Jocelyn and Emma; 1 nephew, Michael. Private visitation will be held at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Friends and family are welcome at the graveisde service on Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Meal to follow at the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints, 64364 Pigeon Gap Rd., Cambirdge. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grant Creek, Missoula, MT. 59808.
