Jerry Lee Bates

Jerry Lee Bates, 72, of Salesville, passed away, Thursday, July 21, 2022, at UPMC.

He was born September 4, 1949, in Barnesville, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph and Emma (Carpenter) Bates.

Jerry attended the Salesville Church of Faith. He loved crafts, spending time with his family, and going to sporting events. He was a laborer.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kelsie Bates, his father-in-law, Howard Roe, and his sister, Sandy Wildes.

He is survived by his wife, Rita (Roe) Bates, his son, Joseph (Kristie) Bates of Quaker City, three daughters: Melissa (Michael) Kemphfer of Dover, Terida (Jason) Williams of Quaker City, and Anettra (Chad) Hastings of Salesville, and his sister, Dixie House of Batesville. Also left to cherish his memory are his nine grandchildren: Brett and Blake Bates, Alixandra and Madilyn Kempher, Brenna and Tegan Williams, Jayna (Austin) Couch, Austin and Carson Hastings, his aunt, Pearl Albritain of Summerfield, mother-in-law, Cathryn Roe, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the Salesville Church of Faith from 1PM-3PM, with the service to immediately follow. Pastor Perry Baranich and Pastor Jim Lee will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to the Salesville Church of Faith or Ester Circle.
