Jerry Alan Bennett

Jerry Alan Bennett, 60, of Cambridge, died Saturday (January 28, 2012) at his home. He was born February 16, 1951 in Canton, son of Virginia E. (Howell) Bennett and the late Roy William Bennett Sr. Mr. Bennett worked in the oil well industry and was also a semi-truck driver. He worked at the Cambridge VFW Post 2901 as well. He was Protestant by faith. Mr. Bennett enjoyed playing dominoes, euchre and pool. He also enjoyed watching Western cowboy movies and the History Channel. Mr. Bennett was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He is survived by his mother, Virginia E. (Howell) Bennett of the home; two sons, Bobby Joe Bennett of Columbus and Jerry A. Bennett Jr. of Newark; three daughters, Debbie Conley and Jerri Sue (& Rodney) Bennett both of New Bern NC, and Desirae (& Scott) Bennett of Senecaville; three brothers, Bill (& Dixie) Bennett of Beaverton OR, Bob Bennett and Mike Bennett both of Cambridge; two sisters, Linda Bennett-Boyer and Pamela (& Kevin) Olden both of Cambridge; ten grandchildren; and his cat, Wednesday. Family and friends may call on Thursday (February 2, 2012) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jerry's name to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
