Jerry Linn Bates

Jerry Linn Bates, 63, of Cambridge, died Thursday (February 3, 2022) at his home.

He was born August 7, 1958 in Cleveland, son of the late Vance M. Bates and Patricia Ellen (McDiffitt) Bates.

He retired from Long Appraisal Group and he also worked for TW Metals for 23 years. He was a 1976 graduate of Cambridge High School and MATC. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing softball and golfing. He was also a huge sports fan and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Bates.

He is survived his wife Lori (Hair) Bates that he married on August 26, 1994; by one daughter Melissa (Matthew) Beaver of Kimbolton, a brother Jan (Tara) Bates of Cambridge; one sister Judie (Jeff) Wendorf of Hartville; five grandchildren Kamden Oldson, Karsyn Oldson, Dylan Beaver, Isaac Beaver, and Kohl Beaver; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and good friends.

The family would like to thank the nurses and techs at the McManus- Shephard Cancer Center for their dedicated and loving care.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 19, from 1 to 4pm for family and friends at Theo's upstairs. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to the Guernsey County Cancer Society, 139 N 7 th Street Cambridge, Ohio 43725.

Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19 please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else's should you decide to attend.
