Joanne Marie Curry

JoAnne Marie Curry, 94, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (March 11, 2015) at her home. She was born January 25, 1921 in Eagle River WI, daughter of the late John Jankovich and Mary (Yapunchich) Jankovich. Mrs. Curry was a secretary for thirty years at Antioch College of Yellow Springs. She spent most of her life in Springfield before moving to Cambridge. She enjoyed playing cards. She often went to the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Curry was a member of Christ Our Light Parish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Curry; a son, Thomas Oppel Jr.; two brothers, Frank Jankovich and Joseph Jankovich; and four sisters, Rose McCutchen, Mary Walters, Helen VanDersal, and Ann Jankovich. She is survived by a son, Tim R. (& Nancy) Oppel; three daughters, Karen Lawrence, Carol (& Rick) Jones, and Kathy (& Vince) Scuoteguazza; a brother, John Jankovich; a sister, Edith Schmidt; six grandchildren, Niki Weber, Ross Jones (& Kayla Pasquale), Collin Jones, Darren Lawrence, Lindsay Scuoteguazza, and Kyle Scuoteguazza; a great-granddaughter, Hallie Weber (& Tommy Davis); and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday (March 16, 2015) at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Paul Hrezo officiating.
