Joanne M (Goodwill) Smith

Joanne M. (Goodwill) Smith, 86, of Old Washington, went to be with her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her husband, Blaine, on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

She was born April 28, 1936, in Cambridge, Ohio, a daughter of the late Francis Goodwill and Audrey (Baker) Goodwill Slasor.

Joanne attended Salt Fork Baptist Church where she served as secretary/ treasurer for many years. She was a baker for 15 years at Guernsey Memorial Hospital and she also worked at Kroger. She also taught cake decorating classes for several years. Joanne enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, and baking. She cherished spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Along with her parents and step-father Ralph Slasor, she is preceded in death by her husband Richard "Blaine" Smith whom she married on November 22, 1953, and passed away on December 13, 2008; one great-granddaughter, Eva Fields; four brothers, Ray; Chuck; Jesse; and Jim Goodwill and four sisters, Shirley Rose; Beverly Lawson; Wanda Cooper; and Ellen Pollock.

She is survived by her son Richard (& Patricia ) Smith of Quaker City; six daughters, Judith (& Kenny) Davidson of Fairmont, WV; Ruby (& Ken) Groves of North Canton; D. Denise (& John) Henry of Milan, IN; Joyce (& Paul Garner) Smith of Byesville; Rachel (& Benny) Fuller of Old Washington; Sally Fields of Cambridge and one brother, Elmer Goodwill of California, 18 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge from 5-8PM, with the service Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Salt Fork Baptist Church starting at 11AM. Pastor Brian Hollis will be officiating. Burial will be held at Pisgah Cemetery in Quaker City.
