Joellen Starr, 89, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Bryan, Ohio and Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Friendship Village of South Hills in Pittsburgh. She was born on September 20, 1933, in Old Washington, daughter of the late Frank Albert Spence and Mayme (Bryan) Spence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin R. Starr. She leaves a son, Chris (Leslie) Starr of Pittsburgh, PA, and a daughter, Connie (Charles) Gregory, of Bradenton, FL; two granddaughters, Hannah (Chris) DiMascio and Rachel Starr; three great-granddaughters, Lily Ann DiMascio, Sophie Starr DiMacscio, and Georgia Rae DiMascio; a sister, Nancy (James) Laughman of Avon Lake; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy (Leonard) McVicker, Martha (William) Corwin, and James (surviving spouse Tammi) Spence. Joellen worked for many years at Carroll-Ames True Value Hardware in Bryan, Ohio. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with service to follow. Pastor Karen Rawlins will officiate. Burial will be in Old Washington Cemetery.
