John Joseph Albert, 77, of Cambridge, died Thursday (March 15, 2012) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville. He was born September 20, 1934 in Stewartsville, son of the late Louis Albert and Ester (Feris) Albert. Mr. Albert was the former owner of John's Mini Mart of Claysville for twelve years. He had also worked at The Daily Jeffersonian for many years. He attended Christ Our Light Parish - St. Benedict Catholic Church. Mr. Albert was a graduate of Bellaire-St. John's High School and attended both The Ohio State University and Ohio University. He enjoyed golfing and going to Wheeling WV to the track. He was a lifetime fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Mr. Albert was a US Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nassif Albert and Albert Albert; and two sisters, Marie Rataiczak and Josephine Albert. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia (Cahoon) Albert, whom he married May 27, 1961; two sons, John Albert II of Milton FL and Harold Albert of Cambridge; two daughters, Julie (& Ronnie) Sposato of Loxahatchee FL and Jennifer (& Matt) Delik of Cambridge; a sister, Sue Flowers of San Francisco CA; two grandchildren, Whittney Albert and Samantha Delik; a great-grandchild, Cyndel Albert; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 22, 2012) at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in John's name to St. Benedict School, 220 N 7th Street, Cambridge OH 43725.
