John C. Blaine, 91, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (August 3, 2016) at the home of his daughter, Mary, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 29, 1925 in Carbondale IL, son of the late Floyd Blaine Sr. and Mary (Clausen) Blaine. Mr. Blaine retired from Ormet where he had worked as a corporate staff engineer for many years. He was a graduate of Missouri University of Science & Technology and a member of the First Christian Church of Beallsville. He was a member of the Sunsbury Masonic Lodge # 362 and a former member of the Switzerland of Ohio Country Club. Mr. Blaine was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #768. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elizabeth (Fosha) Blaine, who died September 23, 2011. They were married July 21, 1943. Also deceased is a grandson, James Allen "Corky" Harper. He is survived by two daughters, Mary (& Dale) Pennell of Cambridge and Sharon (& Roger) Harper of Howard; two brothers, Floyd (& Betty) Blaine Jr. of Illinois and Henry "Gene" Blaine of Lookout Mountain TN; two grandchildren, Jennifer (& David) Francis of Cambridge and T.J. (& Julie) Harper of Canal Winchester; eight great-grandchildren, Kayla (& Brady) Armstrong of Cambridge, Devon Francis (& Jennifer Leasure) of Zanesville, Troy Francis of Cambridge, McKinzie L. Harper of Canal Winchester, Kylie S. Harper of Canal Winchester, John Harper of Canal Winchester, Tanner Blaine Harper of Bowling Green, and Heather (& James) Murphy of Lansing MI; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mady Armstrong and Liam Francis. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where Masonic services will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (August 9, 2016) at 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Rev. Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
