John L. Blasenhauer, 81, of Cambridge, died Saturday (April 25, 2015) at his home. He was born October 31, 1933 in Canton, son of the late Carl Blasenhauer and Mary (McCully) Blasenhauer. Mr. Blasenhauer worked at Columbia Gas and later retired from NCR after twenty-five years of service. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge and the Moose Lodge of Cambridge. He enjoyed riding through the countryside, fishing, camping, and using his metal detector. He also enjoyed playing the slot machines and flying radio controlled airplanes. Mr. Blasenhauer was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Blasenhauer. He is survived by his wife, Reda (McKinley) Blasenhauer, whom he married August 2, 1968; a son, Thomas Blasenhauer of Cambridge; two daughters, Sue (& Jack) McElroy of Cambridge and Margie Davis of Cambridge; a brother, Robert (& Anni) Blasenhauer of Cambridge; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Steve Blasenhauer of Kimbolton. No calling hours will be observed. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
