John S. Didcote, 89, of Cambridge, died Sunday (January 21, 2018) at the Beckett House at New Concord. Mr. Didcote was born May 1, 1928 in Moundsville WV, son of the late John C. Sullivan and Dora (Barker) Sullivan. He was a commercial fisherman in Florida for many years. Mr. Didcote was a US Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Ruth (Corbin) McAuley Didcote; a son, Jean Pierre Sullivan; a stepson, Ray McAuley; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Ball; a brother, Patrick Sullivan; and a sister, Dora Mae Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, Johanna (Rubicam) Didcote of Cambridge; two daughters, Desirée (& Darrell) Bye of Allen TX and Chantal Noel Sullivan of France; two stepsons, Ed (& Peggy) McAuley of Palatka FL and Charles (& Paula) McAuley of Baltimore OH; two stepdaughters, Ruth Ann (& Bill) Kopchak of Cambridge and Jane Allinson of Toronto Canada; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Sullivan of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Rubicam of Cambridge and Sophie (& Dwight) Dickson of Cambridge; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including an adopted nephew, Raymond McAuley of Caldwell. No calling hours will be observed. No funeral services will be held at this time.
