John Gold

John Gold, 89, of Cambridge, died Saturday (May 19, 2007) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born on April 17, 1918 in Byesville, son of the late John Gold and Elizabeth (Marinics) Gold. Mr. Gold was a civil service employee, having worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in water purification. He was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church and the National Slovak Society. Mr. Gold was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Johnson, Peggy Collins and Justine Dupree; and two brothers, Joseph Gold and Jack Gold. He leaves his wife, Helen (Mizikar) Gold of the home, whom he married on August 29, 1942; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Gary Gold of Sheridan WY; a brother, Steven Gold of Akron; a sister, Wilma Tedrick of Cambridge; grandchildren, Eric and Andi Gold of Arvada CO, Amy Gold of Billings MT, Nick and Stephanie Gold of Billings MT; and great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Gold of Billings MT and Owen Gold of Arvada CO. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where wake services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (May 23, 2007) at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
