John Edward Hackley

John Edward Hackley, 62, of Cambridge, died Friday (October 16, 2009) at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born September 29, 1947 in Cambridge, son of Mary V. (Colvin) Hackley and the late Ralph E. Hackley. Mr. Hackley worked as a laborer at Theo's Restaurant. He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Cambridge. Mr. Hackley was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Cambridge VFW, Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Hackley. He is survived by his mother, Mary V. (Colvin) Hackley of Cambridge; two sisters, Becky Hackley Corbett of Cambridge and Sherry Hackley of Parkersburg WV; a nephew, Tony Hackley of Cambridge; and a special friend, Connie Carpenter of Parkersburg WV. Family and friends may call on Monday (October 19, 2009) from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Northwood Cemetery on Tuesday (November 3, 2009) at 2:00 p.m. with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
