John L. Hollins Sr., 66, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (July 28, 2015) at Morrison House, Zanesville. He was born February 15, 1949 in Cambridge, son of the late Nathan Hollins and Helen (Payton) Hollins. Mr. Hollins was a retired truck driver and had also worked as a farmhand for Henry Wells. He was a member of the St. Paul CME Church of Cambridge. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed hunting & fishing. Mr. Hollins was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded two Purple Heart medals for his service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John Hollins Jr. and Christopher Ryan Hollins; seven brothers, Michael, Frank, Richard, William, Ted, James, and Joseph; and a sister, Helen Russell. He is survived by two sons, Craig (& Teibreigh) Hollins of Cambridge and Tye (& Brandi) Hollins of Cambridge; four daughters, Nicole (& Jimmy) Binger of Cambridge, Ashley McManaway of Cambridge, Brandi (& Robert) St. Clair of Cambridge, and Alexis Hollins of Cambridge; three brothers, Nathan Hollins of Sacramento CA, Thomas (& Bonnie) Hollins of Cambridge, and Harold (& Brenda) Hollins of Cambridge; fourteen grandchildren; and his good friends, Henry and Winnie Wells of Old Washington. Memorial visitation will be held Friday (July 31, 2015) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a memorial service will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Randolph White and Minister Vaughn Newsome officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
