John Charles Mathews, 72, of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at his home.
John was born on July 18, 1952, in Cambridge, a son of the late James Mathews and Mary Catherine Howard.
John was a 1971 graduate of Cambridge High School. He was a huge sports fan of the Cleveland Indians and an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Most importantly, John was a loyal husband and night owl and changed his whole schedule to be able to stay up and spend time with his wife, Mary, who passed away on March 21, 2016.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Davis) Mathews, step son Bill Freeman, and his sister.
John is survived by his step-daughter Melinda (Rick) Dunn, step-grandchildren, Zach (Courtney) Freeman and Kendra Freeman, and several step-great-grandchildren.
No services will be held.
