John W. Wheatley

John W. Wheatley, 78, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (October 27, 2015) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born March 25, 1937 in Cambridge, son of the late John M. Wheatley and Mary Lucille (McMahan) Wheatley. Mr. Wheatley retired from NCR, where he had been a supervisor. He attended the First Christian Church. Mr. Wheatley was a member of the Moose Lodge of Cambridge. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia K. (Shaneyfelt) Wheatley, who died September 27, 2012. They were married on October 7, 1955. Also deceased are two brothers, Richard and Herschel; a grandson, John David Wheatley; and a great-grandson, Javion Humphrey. He is survived by two sons, Tim (& Deb) Wheatley of Cambridge and Randy (& Jan) Wheatley of Cambridge; three brothers, Donald Wheatley of Cambridge, Glenver (& Peg) Wheatley of Cambridge, and Robert (& Karen) Wheatley of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Tim (& Anna) Wheatley Jr., Justin Wheatley, Mike (& Amy) Wheatley, Mark Wheatley all of Columbus, and Christopher Wheatley, Ashley Wheatley, Courtney (& Ricky) Walker all of Cambridge; and six great-grandchildren, Kaelin, Jack, Madison, Lainee, Griffin, and Kingston. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Saturday (October 31, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Stinson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
