John Thomas "Moose" Whitney Sr., 61, of Cambridge, died Thursday (August 26, 2010) at his home. He was born June 7, 1949 in Zanesville, son of Helen J. (Love) Whitney and the late Luther B. Whitney. Mr. Whitney worked as a truck driver for Buckeye Water. He attended Meadowbrook High School. He was a member of the Byesville VFW Post 3760 and the Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge. Mr. Whitney was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He will be sadly missed by many friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce A. Whitney; two grandchildren; and two nephews. He is survived by his mother, Helen J. Whitney of the Beckett House at New Concord; a son, John T. Whitney II of Cambridge; three daughters, Stacy L. (& Charles) Bodenheimer of Zanesville, Barbara L. Schultheisz of Cambridge and Marie D. Whitney of Cambridge; a sister, Linda K. (& Bill) Ankrom of Cambridge; eight grandchildren; two nieces; a nephew; and several great-nieces & great-nephews. No calling hours will be observed. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday (September 2, 2010) at 10 a.m. at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. A meal will follow the graveside service at the Eagles in Cambridge, beginning at 12 noon.
