John G. Zvolensky, 79, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (July 18, 2007) at his home. He was born on August 3, 1927 in Harriet (Guernsey County), son of the late Steve Zvolensky and Anna (Tokar) Zvolensky. Mr. Zvolensky was a 35-year employee of Columbia Gas, where he was a serviceman. He also was a 30-year owner of John's Place on Foster Avenue. He was a 1946 graduate of Community High School and a 1951 graduate of Cambridge Business College. Mr. Zvolensky was a United States Army veteran, having served in Germany during World War II. He was a member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901 and also the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Zvolensky, and five sisters, Julie Stopki, Mary Zambory, Anna Klinkovsky, Pauline Keyosky and Helen Hubal. He leaves his wife, Betty (Evancho) Zvolensky of the home, whom he married on September 1, 1951; a son, John David (& Lili) Zvolensky of Millersburg; a daughter, Lisa (& Michael) Neilson of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Tiffani Neilson of Columbus, Eric Neilson of Cambridge, Robert Zvolensky and Michael Zvolensky both of Millersburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a faithful companion, his dog Mandy. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where Panahida services will be held Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (July 21, 2007) at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
