Joseph M. Brown Sr., 88, of Quaker City, died Tuesday (October 10, 2017) at Barnesville Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1929 in Belmont County, son of the late Girdon Brown and Mary Lucille (Hanlon) Brown.
He was a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Brown was a US Navy veteran having served for twenty years during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He had worked at Lockheed-Martin and Sanders Corporation as a contract negotiator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne, Lemuel "Bud", Gerald, Richard, and Perry "Jack" Brown; and two sisters, Georgia Howiler and Sheryl Brown.
He is survived by a son, Joseph Brown Jr. of Litchfield NH; two daughters, Charlene (& Sam) Bollinger of Arkansas and Sheryl Mitchell of New Hampshire; two brothers, Robert (& Leona) Brown of Jerusalem and Marlin (& Evelena) Brown of Quaker City; four sisters, Janet Campbell of Heath, Diane (& Jeff) Green of Heath, Donna Wise of Barnesville, and Carol Stottsberry of Lewisville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday (October 14, 2017) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ted Buehl officiating.
Burial will be at Batesville Cemetery with military honors.
