Joseph Shane Brownfield, 32, of Cambridge, died Saturday (September 24, 2016) at his home. He was born August 11, 1984 in Cambridge, son of Steven Scott Quarles and Jodi Kay Brownfield. Mr. Brownfield had worked at a cleaning business. His children meant everything to him. He also loved music, fishing at Salt Fork State Park, and going to water parks. He enjoyed cookouts with his family. He was very beloved and special to his family. Mr. Brownfield had served in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald F. Brownfield; his grandmother, Patricia Harris; and great-grandparents, Katherine Zipperich and Jerome & Martha Brownfield. He is survived by his mother, Jodi Kay Brownfield of Cambridge; his father, Steven Scott Quarles of Middletown; a son, Xzavier Shane Brownfield of Cambridge; a daughter, Maliah Raine Brownfield of Cambridge; three sisters, Stevee Quarles of Cambridge, Michelle Quarles of Cambridge, and Shannon Rice of Cleveland; his grandmother, Sandra Brownfield of Cambridge; his grandfather, William E. Quarles of Cambridge; two aunts, Christine (& Philip) Simpson of Cambridge and Dawn (& Allen) Canel of Cambridge; and two uncles, Bill (& Amy) Brownfield of Jacksonville FL and William Quarles Jr. of Middletown. He was very close with his cousins, a niece, and three nephews and is also survived by an extensive host of family & friends. In keeping with his wishes, a cremation has taken place. Private services were held for the family. A public celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
