Joseph P. Hollins, 61, of Cambridge, passed away Monday (May 4, 2009) with his family by his side following a brief battle with cancer. He was born September 22, 1947 in Cambridge, son of the late Nathan Hollins and Helen (Payton) Hollins. Mr. Hollins retired from General Motors in Elyria. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He loved to barbecue. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Michael, Frank, Richard, William, Ted and James. He leaves a daughter, Beth (Tracy) Presnell of Cambridge; four brothers, Nathan Hollins of California, Thomas (Bonnie) Hollins, John Hollins and Harold (Brenda King) Hollins all of Cambridge; a sister, Helen Russell of Cambridge; a granddaughter, Keeley Presnell; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, including a special nephew, Adam (Angie) Hollins of Cambridge; his ex-wife, Mary Hollins Carpenter of Byesville; and a special friend, Valerie Martin of Cambridge. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Thursday (May 7, 2009) at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randolph White, Rev. Diana Payton and Rev. Bob Hollins officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
