Joseph N. Power, 83, of Cambridge, died Saturday (November 17, 2018) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
He was born June 26, 1935 in Guernsey County, son of the late Joseph and Eugenie (Boulet) Power.
He retired from Champion Spark Plug. He also worked as a dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Cambridge Post.
Mr. Power was a US Navy Veteran.
He was a member of VFW Post 2901 and the Eagles Club both of Cambridge.
He enjoyed boating at the lake, working on word puzzles, watching the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State University Buckeyes, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie (Fabian) Power, who died April 10, 2015 and he spent the last three years missing his bride. They were married September 5, 1964. Also deceased is a son, Joseph Power Jr.; a brother, William Power; four sisters, Eugenie, Dorothy, Eileen and Joann.
He is survived by a son, Doug Power of Cambridge; two daughters, Michelle Carmichael and Kimberly Power both of Cambridge; a brother, Richard (Mary) Power of Louisville; a sister, Maxine Barriat of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Joe, Jenni and Jessi Carmichael, Aerica (Zach) Bates and Devin Burris; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Emmitt Bates.
Memorial visitation hours will be held Tuesday (November 20, 2018) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with military honors conducted at 6 p.m. at the funeral home by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Following the military honors, the grandchildren will deliver the eulogy.
