Josephine Dorothy Farley King, 93 of Cambridge, passed away Friday (April 12, 2013) at the Meridian-Victorian Oaks Health Care Center. She was born October 11, 1919 in Guernsey County, daughter of the late William Grant Farley and Mary Elizabeth (Sweeney) Farley. Mrs. King retired from NCR after eleven years of service. She also worked for an oil company and was a health care technician in Abilene TX. Josephine had many hobbies and was an active community volunteer. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, embroidering, painting, reading, weaving and bead work. She completed course work and received certificates in herbology, reflexology, plaster crafts and arts. As a volunteer, Josephine served with Support Our Troops, Boy Scouts of America, and she sewed clothing for dolls for Secret Santa in Cambridge. She also helped with the community quilt at the Guernsey County Senior Center and worked in the Clothes Closet at the Stop Nine Church of Christ, where she was a member. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chief Fisher King, whom she married on April 18, 1935. Also deceased is a son, Hiawatha G. King; three brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by three sons, Pawnee Fisher (& Shirley) King of Byesville, Alvin R. (& Jennifer) King of Newcomerstown, and Timothy A. King of Byesville; seven daughters, Juanita Clark of Sugarcreek, Alla Johnson of Dequoin IL, Jean (& Wayne) Whiteley of Byesville, Fawn (& Raymond) Wayble of Freeport, Lassy Street of Williamston SC, Wenonah (& Herschel) Waugh of Newcomerstown, and Brenda (& Jimmie) Collins of Byesville; thirty-three grandchildren; sixty-six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Tuesday (April 16, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Woody Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at the King Family Cemetery, Newcomerstown. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Josephine's name to Great Rivers Affiliate, American Heart Association, 5455 North High St, Columbus OH 43214.
