Joyce Ann (Minarchek) Rome, 57, of Cambridge passed away Friday (August 28, 2008) at her home. She was born September 16, 1950 in Cambridge, daughter of the late John and Mary (Vavrek) Minarchek. Mrs. Rome was a teacher for 22 years at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Byesville. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Cambridge. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and scrap booking. She was a 1968 graduate of Guernsey Catholic Central High School and a 1973 graduate of Ohio University, where she received a bachelor's degree in education. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Susan Minarchek. She leaves her husband, William J. Rome, whom she married October 28, 1968; a son, William (Heather) Rome of Cambridge; a daughter, Susan Rome-Warnock of the home; a brother, John (Cheryl) Minarchek of Byesville; a sister, Betty (Ray) Kendzicky of Michigan.; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Kaylie Rome-Warnock of Cambridge, Emma, Will and Gavin Rome of Cambridge; her mother-in-law, Marie Rome of Cambridge; brother-in-law, Frank (Marian) Rome of Cambridge, sister-in-law, Cookie (Tom) Tedrick of Cambridge; and many nieces, nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. A Vigil service will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Fr. Robert Borer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Benedict School Scholarship Fund.
