June Elaine Armstrong

June Elaine Armstrong, 102, of Cambridge, died Thursday (March 12, 2020) at Cardinal Place of Cambridge.

She was born May 25, 1917 in Cambridge, daughter of the late M. A. Thomas and Edna Grace (Patterson) Thomas.

A 1935 graduate of Cambridge High School, Mrs. Armstrong was a hairstylist for eighteen years and owned June Elaine's Wave Shop. She had also worked at Branthoover & Johnston with her husband for several years.

She cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved cleaning and organizing.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She carried a love of children throughout her life and they always had natural fondness for her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Clark Armstrong, who died September 9, 2013. They were married June 21, 1941. Also deceased is a twin brother, William Fayne Thomas; and two sisters, Betty Ronshausen and Patricia Jones.

She is survived by three daughters, Trudy Lane (Jim) Gibson of Cambridge, Jan Jay (Kim) Carnes of Carmel IN, and Kimberly Clarke (Jeff) Hayes of Galena; ten grandchildren, Chris (Cindy) Saltz of Carlsbad CA, Doug Clark (Amy) Saltz of Chagrin Falls, Jason (Kim) Gibson of Bremerton WA, Ben (Carmen) Carnes of Westfield IN, Luke (Karyn) Carnes of Orlando FL, Sam (Caitlin) Carnes of Coatesville IN, Kellen (Lisa) Hayes of Westerville, Kayleigh (Nash) Buchbinder of Columbus, Jake (Paige) Hayes of Westerville, and Josh (Jackie) Hayes of Cleveland; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashtyn (Camille) Saltz, Abbie (Royal) Moore, Sofia Saltz, Ashley Gibson, Lauren Elaine (Dave) Yeager, Lillian June Carnes, Hunter Clark Carnes, Blakely Ann Carnes, Ellis Elaine Carnes, Julianna Marie Hayes, and Harper Anne Hayes (due April 4, 2020); and two great-great-grandchildren, Harper Julie Saltz and Conner Yeager.

A celebration of life will be held Monday (March 16, 2020) at 3 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Cambridge, with Pastor Randy Weaver officiating.

Private graveside services will be held with Pastor Sturman Moore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Christ United Methodist Church, 2167 North Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Amedysis Hospice, 52171 National Road – Unit 1, St. Clairsville OH 43950.
