June Marie Tate, 88, died Monday (April 12, 2010) at Autumn Health Care late in the afternoon in Cambridge OH. She was born May 19, 1921 in Chillicothe, daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Rinehart) Towle. She grew up in Toledo OH, graduating from Scott High School. She joined the Women's Army Corp in 1943, serving as a recruiter and leaving the service at the rank of Sergeant in 1945. She met Stuart E. Tate, a salesman of Toledo OH, and married him on June 5, 1944. She and her husband loved to dance to the swing bands. She once danced with Frank Sinatra at Cedar Point. Mrs. Tate and her husband also enjoyed playing bridge. She worked as a saleswoman at The Metropolitan-Town and Country. She was also a long-time teller at Citizens Federal Savings Bank-Town and Country and a hostess at the bank's Savings Clubs, especially on Whipp Road. Mrs. Tate was a member of First Baptist Church in Toledo as a child and youth; a member of Hampton Park Christian Church of Toledo for ten years; and a member of Central Christian Church in Kettering for forty-two years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart, who died November of 1966. She is survived by her children, Tammy (Forrest) Thompson of Santa Ana CA and Rev. Terry (Pam) Tate of Cambridge OH; a sister, Dorothy Shaneyfelt of Toledo OH; a brother, John (& Gertrude) Towle of Germany; five grandchildren, Josie Tate of Cambridge OH, Jacob (Jamie) Tate of Lima OH, Jeremy (Laura) Tate of Oregon, James (Mari) Tate of Point Place OH and Jeffery (Julie) Tate of Woodville OH; and ten great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit with the family on Sunday (April 18, 2010) from 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Cambridge, 1127 Beatty Avenue, Cambridge OH, in the church's parlor. Following a cremation, family and friends will meet to celebrate her life and reminisce during the week of May 16th (time and location to be announced later) in Toledo. As an expression of sympathy, memorial gifts may be given to Central Christian Church, 1200 Forrer Blvd, Kettering OH 45420.
