Justine Enza Simpson, 89, of Cambridge, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (November 19, 2008). She passed away at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born on January 7, 1919 in Barnesville, daughter of the late Thomas Lett and Edith (Goins) Lett Wade. She married Clyde Ellsworth Simpson Sr. on December 24, 1936. Mrs. Simpson worked as a nurse's aide at the former Cambridge State Hospital, with twenty-eight years of dedicated service. She was a member of Shafer Chapel A.M.E. Church of Cambridge, where she served as stewardess of the church. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee. She loved planting flowers and listening to "big band" music. She attended Barnesville High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Ellsworth Simpson Sr, who passed away on August 29, 1983; a brother, Charles Loren Lett; and four sisters, Barbara Logwood, Gladys Harris, Jean Betts and Cleo Lyons. She leaves two sons, Rev. Clyde E. Simpson Jr. of Cambridge and Rev. Charles R. (& Betty) Simpson of Cambridge; three daughters, Linda Sue Chandler of Cambridge, Jean Diane Simpson of Cambridge and Cynthia Justine Simpson of Hartford CT; eight grandchildren, Charla Lowery, Diedra Hollins, Clyde Simpson III, Jay Chandler, Jonathan Simpson, Eric Chandler, Clyde Chandler and Sarah Simpson; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Monday (November 24, 2008) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randolph White officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
