Katherine C. Estock

January 22, 1920 — January 3, 2013

Katherine C. Ochs Estock, age 92, passed peacefully from this life into the next on Thursday (January 3, 2013). She was a former resident of Cambridge for fifty-five years. She was born January 22, 1920 in Columbus, the only child of Carl and Alma (Seufer) Ochs. Katherine graduated from Johnstown High School and Columbus Business School and was a bookkeeper/secretary until she married her darling Joseph David Estock in 1946. She then dedicated all her energies into making a happy home for her husband and four children. She delighted in sharing her passions of cooking, canning, sewing, and needlework with everyone. She was an active Girl Scout leader/trainer for years; teaching outdoor cooking was one of her favorite joys. She was courageous, determined, caring, and compassionate. She was there especially to send dinners for years to persons unable to cook for themselves. She and her husband also imparted their love of the outdoors and gardening to their family - a legacy that continues. Most of all Katherine was devoted to her family, her faith, God, and love of her church - being a member of St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church for her entire time of living in Cambridge Ohio. She was a CCD teacher and teachers' aide at St. Benedict's school. She was the matriarch of her family after the passing of her husband in 1998. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Estock Page and husband, Ron, of Columbus, Karen Estock Yash and husband, Joseph, of Stow, and Stephanie Estock Peterson and husband, Rich, of Erie Pa; a son, Carl Estock and wife, Lynn, of Columbus; ten grandchildren, Sarah and Elizabeth Page, Steve, David, Nick, and Abby Estock, Tony and Joe Yash, Andrea and Erik Peterson; three great-grandchildren, Keagan Estock, Owen Yash, and Aubree Peterson-Spanard; and several nephews and nieces. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where wake services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday (January 7, 2013) at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge.
