Kathryn L. Caldwell

Kathryn L. Caldwell, 91, a resident of Cambridge for thirty years and a former resident of Freeport for sixty years, passed away Tuesday (October 7, 2008) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born on June 20, 1917 in Freeport, daughter of the late Irl Wharton and Anna (Heaston) Wharton. She married Kenneth E. Caldwell on April 25, 1936. Mrs. Caldwell was very proud of her twenty-five years of work as the secretary to the superintendent of Freeport, Lakeland, and later Madison schools. She later worked briefly at the Freeport State Bank. After her retirement and upon moving to Cambridge, she volunteered in the gift shop of Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church of Cambridge and a former member of the Freeport Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Freeport High School. Mrs. Caldwell cherished spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Caldwell, who passed away on January 20, 2002; and a ten-month-old great-grandson, Christopher David Caldwell. She leaves a son, Larry (& Carol) Caldwell of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Kathy (& David) Milligan of Cambridge, David (& Brenda) Caldwell of Cambridge and Keith (& Patricia) Caldwell of Galloway; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan Milligan, Whitney Milligan, Lauren Caldwell, Kathryn Caldwell, Megan Caldwell and Caroline Caldwell. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Saturday (October 11, 2008) at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jim Spain officiating. Burial will be at Greenmount Union Cemetery, Freeport.
