Kathryn A (Ward) Roe

Kathryn A (Ward) Roe, 92, of Salesville, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at Cambridge Place Assisted Living.

Kathryn was born January 8, 1932, in Kennonsburg, Ohio the daughter of the late Eugene Brokaw and Veda Claire (Day) Ward.

She worked at RCA and NCR as a laborer, the Shenandoah Inn as a cashier in the trucker store, and at Rinks and Hills as a Sales Associate. Her last and favorite job was at Cracker Barrel as a Sales Associate. She also owned and operated Roe's Drive- In for fourteen years. Kathryn was a member of the Salesville Church of Faith and was a member of Esther's Circle and Gibson Homemakers. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, working outside, canning, farming, and spending time with her family, especially at Christmas. Kathryn attended Yoker Valley one room schoolhouse up until eighth grade and then attended Batesville High School.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howard E Roe, whom she married May 20, 1948, and who passed December 31, 2006; a daughter, Laina Maureen Roe; siblings, Elaine Roe and John Ward; and sons-in-law, Ed Marohnic and Jerry Bates.

Kathryn is survived by, her son, Randy (& Dorothea) Roe of Salesville; her daughters, Linda Marohnic of Cambridge, Rita Bates of Salesville, and Teresa (& Ric) Lyons of Salesville; her brother, Frederick Ward of Cambridge; her sisters, Reva Abraham of Nelsonville and Marilyn Tilton of New Matamoras; and her grandchildren, Michael Marohnic, Brent (& Stephanie) Marohnic, Terida (& Jason) Williams, Anettra (& Chad) Hastings, Jeremy (& Katie) Roe, Shayla (& Norman) Ginn, and Doranda (& Zach) Hughes. Also left to cherish her memory are thirteen great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held, Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 11AM to 1PM with the service to follow at 1PM at Salesville Church of Faith. Pastors Jeff Eschbaugh and Perry Baranich to officiate the service. Burial will be held in Salesville Lower Cemetery.
